(Important Information for Employers and Skilled Workers)

Minister of State for Business, Employment and Retail Neale Richmond TD has announced significant changes to the salary threshold rules for Employment Permits in Ireland.


𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬:

  1. Eligibility for General Employment Permits will be expanded to include 32 additional occupations 🌐.

  2. The salary threshold for most General Employment Permits will increase from €30,000 to €34,000 in January 2024 💼.

  3. 11 new occupations will be added to the Critical Skills Occupations List 📈.

  4. The salary threshold for most Critical Skills Employment Permits will increase from €32,000 to €38,000 in January 2024 💡.


𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬:

These changes will make it easier for you to recruit skilled workers from outside of the EU. You may now be eligible for an Employment Permit for a wider range of occupations, and the higher salary threshold will make it more attractive for skilled workers to come and work in Ireland.

𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬:

These changes mean that you may now be eligible for an Employment Permit for a wider range of occupations, and the higher salary threshold will give you more earning potential.
