Writer: Jay LimbachiyaJay Limbachiya

Ireland is a popular destination for Non-EU job seekers, thanks to its strong economy, high quality of life, and English-speaking workforce. However, many job seekers including recent graduates mistakenly believe that the only place to get an employment permit in Ireland is Dublin.

In reality, many companies which are located in other counties in Ireland offer employment opportunities to non-EU nationals by way of supporting employment permit applications. In fact, according to the latest statistics from the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, over half of all employment permits issued in Ireland in 2023 (till June end) were granted to people working in counties outside of Dublin.

So, if you're looking for an employment permit in Ireland, don't limit yourself to Dublin. Here are some of the top counties for employment permits outside of the capital:

📍 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐤: Cork is the second largest city in Ireland and a major economic hub. It's home to a wide variety of industries, including IT, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing. In 2023 (till June) , Cork was the second most popular county for employment permits, with over 1,534 permits issued. Which is almost double compared to the previous year.

📍 𝐊𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐞: Kildare is a county located just outside of Dublin. It's home to many multinational companies, including Intel and IBM. In 2023, Kildare is the third most popular county for employment permits, with over 1,138 permits issued this year so far.

📍 𝐋𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤: Limerick is a city in the southwest of Ireland. It's a major centre for the pharmaceutical industry. In 2023 (till June), Limerick is the fourth most popular county for employment permits, with over 924 permits issued.

📍 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲: Galway is a city on the west coast of Ireland. It's a popular tourist destination, but it's also home to a growing tech sector. In 2023 (till June), Galway is the fifth most popular county for employment permits, with over 900 permits issued.

Other than above Meath, Waterford, Wexford, Louth and Kilkenny have an average more than 400 permits in the first half of this year.
