There are many reasons why a PPS number is one of the most important document for international students in Ireland. Here are a few of the most important reasons:
🍀 To work: You will need a PPS number to work in Ireland, even if you are only working part-time.
🍀 To get healthcare: If you are an international student, you will need a PPS number to access healthcare in Ireland.
🍀 To claim social welfare benefits: If you are eligible for social welfare benefits in Ireland, you will need a PPS number to apply for them.
🇮🇪 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐏𝐏𝐒 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫?
You can apply for a PPS number by visiting www.mygovid.ie. You will have to create an ID on this website and follow the instructions to book an appointment. Once it is booked, You will need to bring the following documents with you:
🍀 Your passport or other valid ID
🍀 Proof of your address in Ireland
🍀 Proof that you are a student (for example, a letter from your university or college)
The application process is usually quick and easy. You should receive your PPS number in the mail within a few weeks.
